UVP Monitor finds a wide range of applications in hydraulic research labs. It allows measurement of velocity profiles and sediment movement. The illustration shows a model of fast flowing river used for studies of bottom erosion near the outer bank. The presence of sand and gravel carried by the flow does not hinder the UVP Monitor performance. |

The
ultrasonic principle of UVP does not require the measured liquid to be
transparent. This opens many possibilities for UVP measurement of flows,
i.e. in the food processing industry where measured fluids can include
juices, mayonnaise, ketchup, chocolate, etc
and also the paper industry.
The illustration shows brewery tanks where flows of malt inside the tank
can be measured.

Due
to its good spatial and temporal resolution the UVP Monitor can be used
for measurement of flow fields and turbulence in inlets and outlets of
hydraulic turbines and pumps. Knowledge of flow field in such parts has
major importance for their cavitation prediction, dynamic behaviour, etc
all leading to a better design for improved efficiency.

UVP
Monitor finds very good use in ecology. When used with lower working frequency,
it can measure velocity profiles up to several meters long, as found in
tanks of sewage water-treatment plants and sedimentation tanks shown on
the photograph. UVP ability to ignore paper or other large inclusions
makes it ideal for measurements in drainage systems as well.

UVP
Monitor easily measures flows in oil, gasoline, crude oil, glycerol and
other organic fluids, including at elevated temperatures. Thanks to it
through-wall measurement capability UVP Monitor is ideal for general use
in oil refineries, chemical processing plants, and liquid gas plants and
installations. UVP Monitor can also measure in mercury and molten metals
such as sodium, where other methods fail.
